Sonja L. Shipp is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. She is a native of Texas and holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Houston.

In addition to her private practice, Sonja serves as a lay counselor at her home church and also enjoys participating in volunteer activities throughout the year. She is also an adjunct faculty member at a local community college where she teaches on the topic of substance use/abuse and chemical dependency. Sonja has been married to her wonderful husband for 16 years.

Her professional experience includes working with men and women experiencing a wide range of challenges and difficulties such as anxiety, depression, betrayal(infidelity), work stress, family of origin issues, grief and loss, marital and relationship conflict, phase of life adjustments and more. She approaches every client in a loving and non-judgmental way with a desire to provide a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere so that her clients are at ease, as much as possible, as they discuss deeply personal issues they're experiencing. It has been said that Sonja is very warm and friendly, and easy to talk to. And as new clients encounter her counseling style, they walk away feeling uplifted and hopeful.

Passionate about assisting women to become all that God would have them to be, Sonja enjoys working with young adult, college bound and adult women.

By being warm, genuine, and having a respectful interest in you and your concerns, it is her prayer that she will provide a safe outlet for you to address past and current issues, learn from them, and move forward in a productive and healthy manner.
